Short version: Your budgeting data stays on your device. We don’t sell your data. The only thing we collect is your email if you join our waitlist on the website.

What we collect

In the app: Budget and expense info you enter is stored locally on your device. We do not receive or store it on our servers.
On the website: If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address and store it in Supabase so we can send product updates or invitations.

What we do not collect

No bank connections or transaction imports.
No analytics SDKs or ad trackers in the app.
No location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers.

Why we collect the waitlist email

To let you know when features launch or the app is available in your region.
To send budgeting tips (sparingly). You can unsubscribe anytime.

Legal bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)

App data (on-device): Not processed by us.
Waitlist email: Your consent when you submit the form; our legitimate interests in providing updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Your rights

If you’re in the EU/UK (and generally for everyone), you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your waitlist record. Email us at hello@pelicanbudgeting.com. For app data, since it’s only on your device, you can delete it by removing the app or using in-app reset options.

CCPA/CPRA (California)

We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by California law. You can request deletion of your waitlist email at any time via hello@pelicanbudgeting.com.

Children

Pelican Budgeting is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). Please don’t submit personal information if you’re under the applicable age.

Security

App data never leaves your device. For the waitlist, Supabase provides secure storage, and we use industry-standard safeguards. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Data retention

App data: Lives on your device until you delete it.
Waitlist email: Kept until you unsubscribe, we launch and retire the list, or you ask us to delete it.

International transfers

We may store or process waitlist emails in the U.S. or other countries where Supabase or our email provider operates. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

Third parties we use

Supabase — database for website waitlist submissions.
Email service provider — to send announcements to the waitlist.

Apple App Store privacy labels (summary)

Data Not Collected (App): Financial info, contact info, identifiers, usage data — all not collected by us.
Data Collected on Website: Email address (Contact Info) for Developer Communications and App Functionality.

Changes

If we add cloud sync or features that process your data, we’ll update this policy and the App Store privacy details. We’ll post the new date above and, if changes are material, we’ll notify you in the app or by email.
